A great aquarium set-up does always not mean having a big aquarium tank which is complete with accessories and filters. Little emphasis is given the structure that holds it together. It is the most important consideration if any hobbyist would like to have a sturdy set up. Some use wooden cabinets which are bolted with metal screws. Other prefer metal stands which are welded together in order to hold heavier loads. These are the basic structures on which ornamental covers like wood, hard plastic and metal sidings are attached to create better aesthetics.

A tank cabinet is not merely to hold the aquarium tank, it can also be used to hold its accessories. Filters, aerator units and other tank support accessories can be stored inside it. Pipes and tubes from these accessories can be neatly connected to the tank through holes that are provided on its back side which is well hidden from public view.

Other aquarium supplies like feeds and water purifying chemicals can be stored inside the cabinet under lock and key. This makes it convenient for the hobbyist to use it whenever the need arises. It is also better kept under the tank rather than having them lying around and susceptible to accidental use.
Hobbyist are advised to carefully choose tank cabinets based on the weight of the tank they are using. This is very important as a heavy load placed on a tank cabinet with wrong load capacity will be dangerous both to the hobbyist and his fishes. Sooner or later, overloaded cabinets will crash down and put all investment and effort to waste.

The beauty of an artificial marine world is often determined by how it comes close to the real thing. Any fish tank hobbyist can create a realistic marine habitat right in the comforts of his living room. This can be done by choosing the right artificial and decorative plants to be placed inside the aquarium tank. But there are a lot of advantages other than being decorative. Substrate affects the health of aquarium fishes. This is because good quality substrate improves water chemistry, filtration and the well-being of the aquarium and its fishes. Dark colored substrates are considered to be better for aquarium fishes, as they will display more colorfully and are less likely to be timid and shy. Substrate made of crushed coral and coral sand both contain calcium carbonate, which will raise the carbonate hardness and buffer the pH. Substrate made from peat may be used in some aquaria to mimic some soft water habitats.
A wide variety of artificial plants for aquarium and refugium tanks could easily be purchased from Suburban Reef.com, the leading online aquarium and accessories online shop. There are a wide range of artificial plants which are not only aesthetically pleasing but nearly authentic. These colorful decorations combine well with aquarium fishes and their artificial world.

I use to spend hours cleaning my aquarium plants, rocks, filters, etc till the guy at the fish store told me his solution. Bleach. Needless to say I thought he was kidding. He was not kidding and he was right. His point was rocks and plastic are not sponges. They will not soak up the bleach. As long as you rinse well, it is fine. My routine now is to scrub the glass with a glass scouring pad. Then I take out all the plants and rocks that are covered in algae. These all go into my kitchen sink which I fill with hot water and a cup of chlorine bleach. I leave them to soak while I get back to the tank. Then I vacuum the gravel and take out about 1/3 of the water. Change the filters and start refilling the tank. Then I go back to the sink to check the plants and rocks. They all look brand new. Rinse in clean cold water, soak in clean water for about another 30 minutes. Then I dry the plants off to get rid of any possible water sticking to them and stick them back in the tank. If you are worried, test the water for chlorine once the plants and rocks are back in.

Aquarium equipments are important so that your fish and other aquatic pets may live longer than just simply putting them in a water tank. It also have to be clean so that they are maintained healthy for longer life. If you have tropical fish, you have to know that anything cooler than 20 degrees Centigrade will kill them so a water heater is essential. You may need some knowledge before you buy one or ask the pet shop dealing with aquatic pets for advices because if it is not the proper voltage, it may become useless. Remember, too much heat or too much cold will end the life of your pets. Filters seems to be the biggest part of an aquarium. This can make sure your pets are not poisoned with their own dirt and other contaminants so it is best to buy the perfect filters for your aquarium. Again, ask your pet shop about the best one and which is perfect for your aquarium. Most filters needs to be replaced and maintained anytime so proper care should be done with it all the time. There should be a time cycle when to replace parts of it so that everything works well.
